Hello, comrades!
As you have already noticed, in addition to reviews of metal detectors and pinpointers, and other useful devices for digging, on our blog, reviews of useful equipment also appear periodically. Copping is not only about knocking out fields on a Sunday, for many it also means expeditions for a week or more, when we go into the forest, where even mobile communications are not available! And we spend a long time in these forests, digging in ancient tracts or at battle sites. And without reliable and high-quality equipment you can’t go to such places; not only comfort on the expedition, but also your life, friends, depends on it.
Therefore, back in the winter of this year, I made a big new thing for myself as a cop – I took a 40-liter backpack. There is already a backpack for 25 liters, I wrote about it here: Patrol backpack UMBTS 6sh112 from Camouflage.ru
There is also a 60-liter backpack, standard for the Bundeswehr, but now it has turned into a storage facility for equipment – uniform, clothes, different layers (T-shirts/T-shirts/thermal underwear/insulation). The backpack itself is excellent too, Bundes after all! But here a problem arose – 25 liters is not enough, it’s a backpack for one day, 60 liters is a lot, and there is nowhere to store the equipment, it’s all in the backpack (in my opinion, the equipment should be stored in a trunk, if that’s the case, or better yet, in a closet), you need there was one backpack that would save on expeditions and on trains for their purposes (for work, for leisure).
The requirements were established by themselves – a volume between 25 liters and 60 liters, a decent and decent appearance, reliability (to be strong), versatility – so that you can go into the forest and into the city without paying much attention to yourself. I scoured the Internet long and hard, looked in stores – various backpacks from the Chinese and other countries, a la MilTek, MFH were not very impressed – the quality is questionable, but the price is good, but something was just super, a la Tasmanian Tiger was good , but very expensive. I also looked at Camouflage.ru, a new series of backpacks from KE Tactical, called Sturm, just appeared there, and my choice fell on it. Actually, today’s review will be about this backpack!
By the way, link to the backpack in the store: KE Tactical Sturm 40 l olive . You can also use the promo code: hobby-detection Gives a 7% discount! And another 5% discount will be applied automatically if payment is made through the site, that is, in total: 12% discount. Not bad!
The backpack turned out to be extremely successful. A very interesting and convenient design – the main compartment has a volume of 30 liters, which is enough to put all your belongings, things, and other large equipment in the main compartment. At the same time, you can still compact all the packed items and close the compartment!
The backpack has drawstrings on both sides to make it easier to tighten the front open compartment and provide a tighter fit for items placed in the main compartment. There are also open mesh pockets on the side where you can put a flask or a water bottle, or other things that need to be taken out/used quite often.
You can tell us more about the front compartment – according to the manufacturer, its volume ranges from 5 to 10 liters. In general, this seems to be true, because you can put a whole helmet in the front section and fix it – the helmet will not fall out and will be securely fixed. Thus, we have a +10 liter bonus, in which we can put the necessary equipment, the front compartment has protective mesh on the sides, the compartment itself is not protected from moisture and water, so you need to place there exactly those things that are not afraid of bad weather, for example – pot, burner, etc. This is a big bonus and saves space for equally useful equipment in the main compartment!
The backpack also has two side pockets with a capacity of 1.2 liters each. Basically, they are intended for various small things. The side pockets are narrow and elongated in height, perfect for some types of equipment. You can, for example, roll things into a tube and pack them in these pockets – they will fit compactly!
There is also a front pocket, it can be clearly seen in the photo – this pocket has MOLLE cells for attaching various pouches. The front pocket is more suitable for administrative functions – storing cards, documents, pens, and various accessories.
Business cards also fit perfectly into the cells, as do flight tickets!
The back of the backpack, as seen in the photo, is covered with mesh and soft material to provide ventilation to the back and protect it from fogging. A useful property – especially in the summer, when there are long walks, you become all wet, and your backpack even more so. At least a little, but this design of the back of the backpack helps. The same mesh is installed on the inside of the straps; the design itself is called AirMesh.
The straps have the ability to quickly drop the backpack – they are attached to the fastex, so if necessary, we press the fastex and the backpack calmly flies to the ground and relieves the operator of its weight.
The locks of all zippers have a cord – this is done to make it more convenient to use the backpack with gloves. This is especially important on the mine, as well as on hikes.
The backpack is made of Cordura material, density 1000 Den with PU coating 1000 mm water column. It holds water well in the rain, but you don’t need to swim with it – the water will pass. A cover might also come in handy, so I’m already thinking about a cover for the future. The lining is made of Oxford 210 Den fabric with PU coating. The materials are strong and reliable, the tailoring is also pleasing – very high quality. The breaking load on the threads is at least 4.5 kg per cm, which means that this backpack will not easily tear in the sewing areas, no matter how hard you try. You don’t have to worry about such a backpack – it will serve you for a long time, faithfully.
Open the main compartment. As you can see, there are more grids running along the front cover of the main compartment with the ability to put useful things in them. Medicines, for example, powerbank, pens – everything was placed in the upper compartment, because it can easily be opened with a zipper on top of the backpack; to gain access to this compartment, you do not need to open the main compartment of the backpack. This is a very convenient feature, friends!
Manufacturer's nameplate and information on the material + contact details, in case you have ideas and suggestions for improving the equipment. It is better not to remove the nameplate, since it also proves the product’s warranty.
There is a large pocket inside the main compartment that can be used as a compartment for a hydration pack, and there is an outlet for a tube. Also on the strap there is a mount for a hydration tube.
Now let's move on directly to the user experience.
The backpack survived air travel well – you can easily take it as hand luggage on a plane, the main thing is to keep the weight at 8 kg (each airline has its own requirements, but 8 kg is something average for everyone). In principle, you can travel with only one backpack, without additional luggage, especially if you are flying alone and not for some public event.
I had to test this backpack in the mountains, although not at high altitude, not Everest or Elbrus, but in the Bulgarian Stara Planina reserve, full of forests and impassable rubble, the backpack showed itself very worthy as an item for carrying things and equipment. In the photo above we are preparing for night shooting at a shooting range in the mountains. The backpack that day contained everything necessary, including a shortened AK assault rifle produced by the Bulgarian Arsenal plant with several magazines and optics (collimator) mounted on it. Naturally, I didn’t forget about glasses with active headphones.
As a result – an excellent, reliable and indestructible thing for a very affordable budget. What’s better: paying once for a backpack that will last for many years, or throwing away a cheap backpack every year, thereby overpaying in the third year? With me, the backpack has already withstood many trips, shooting ranges, the cop is a constant, even attended a rally with me, if anyone doesn’t know, the Elder’s rally near Mozhaisk . My short report and video on the meeting.
We will continue to use it and, if possible, I will definitely add to this review with new impressions and real tests that this backpack will go through with me. All my equipment is tested to its full extreme capabilities, so in this case I can speak for the quality.
No worries, friends, but the most important thing – take care of yourself when going out and don’t neglect good equipment, it really saves our lives in difficult times.
