For how many years in a row have we been digging pennies out of the ground, but there is no end to them, except for the knocked-out places, of course. Recently, while digging up another penny, I wondered why a penny is called, in fact, a penny? I searched the Internet and it turned out to be extremely simple — the word «penny» was first introduced by Tsar Ivan the Terrible when he issued silver money with a knight with a spear depicted on it. By his decree, such money began to be called «penny money».
Happy coping! More interesting things coming soon!
