In 2016, Garrett introduced a restyled line of detectors for beginners and not-so-beginners — Garrett ACE 200/200i, ACE 300/300i and ACE 400/400i. To clarify, I will give the similarities and differences between these models so that it is easier for comrades to choose the right machine.
All units have VDI ranging from 1 to 99, as well as updated rod locks for improved retention.
Proud flagship ACE 400
Topping the line is the ACE 400, equipped with Iron Audio™ mode. The same function is used on more expensive Garrett machines — AT Pro and AT Gold. In a nutshell, enabling this feature changes the audio response from trash targets, allowing you to better distinguish, for example, a beer cap from a coin. A specific, clearly distinguishable sound signal appears (short crackling).
The ACE 400 operates at 10 kHz pure. Not bad at all for this class of devices! In particular, this allows you to get a good signal from objects with weak and medium conductivity, including gold and lead. The Asya 400 also has the ability to switch between four frequencies (Frequency Adjust option) to tune out other instruments or devices. The device is equipped with a PROformance DD coil measuring 8.5» x 11», which has proven itself with the Asya 350 and EuroAsya models. In the ACE 400 settings you can find five discrimination modes, a pinpointer, sensitivity adjustment and a dedicated iron mode (Iron Audio).
The ACE 400 comes with three accessories: a coil protector, headphones with a spiral wire and the ability to adjust the sound, and a cover for the unit to protect it from moisture and dirt. 2016 US MSRP — $399.95.
The international version of the device with the index 400i is intended for sales outside the United States and has the same price, settings and equipment (including three accessories). The images of American coins were removed from the 400i display, the discrimination scale was divided again, significantly increasing the iron sector.
ACE 300 vs ACE 250
The next device in the hierarchy of new «Asec» has a slightly smaller concentric mono coil — 7» x 10». However, this twist is larger than what was previously on the ACE 250. The frequency of the device has also been increased from 6.5 kHz on the ACE 250 to 8 kHz on the new ACE 300. And finally, the hardware segment has been increased. Otherwise, ACE 300 repeats its older brother — There is VDI, new locks on the rod, the same headphones, coil protection and case. Following the same logic, Garrett rolled out the ACE 300i to the international market. US MSRP for ACE 300 — $299.95.
Junior ACE 200
The most simplified device of all Garretts. He is truly beautiful in his asceticism — three buttons, three search modes. However, like all new Acis, this one has a VDI rating and new locks on the bar, as well as a foreign twin, the ACE 200i. Device frequency — 6.5 kHz, concentric mono coil is even smaller — 6.5» x 9». Price — $199.95.
The choice is yours, comrades! 😉
