Metal detector manufacturer Teknetics has announced a new product — its new pinpointer called Tek-Point. So far there is little data on the new product, but judging by what I have heard about it, the pin should be very reliable and have good search characteristics.
Not only that, I managed to hold it in my hands and test it in September 2017 and I was a little impressed by the range of the pin on a regular euro coin (1 euro). But here’s the question — does the pin need good depth? And a solution with a screw on the battery compartment — You can clearly see it in the photo; it can be unscrewed with one coin or a screwdriver.
What do you think? Interesting solutions?

In Europe they promise a price of around 130 euros. Not bad, considering that a Garrett pinpointer costs 150 euros on average. Pin impulse, which means it will work in sea/salt water and no heavy soil is a hindrance to it!
Detailed infographics on the new pinpointer have appeared. What became known?
- Powered by 2 AA batteries
- Waterproof up to 3 meters
- Has LED backlight
- Controlled with one button
- 3 sensitivity levels
- Sound indication, vibration indication mode and combined sound-vibration mode
- Has an alarm option for loss
- There is a loop for a toe and a trench coat!
Review of Teknetics Tech Point pinpointer
I made a short video review and an air test on small targets, such as:
- Scales
- Solid
- Roman denarius
- Golden Ring
For those who want to see the results of the air test:
The pinpointer is very sensitive and perfectly detects small and thin targets, even if they are on an edge. Yes, many pinpointers simply won’t notice such a target and won’t give a signal — you can check it yourself.
