Upgrade in Minelab CTX 3030

Minelab introduced changes in its CTX 3030 metal detector: strengthened battery box seal and new armrest lock. Upgraded metal detectors are marked with a special stamp.

Enhanced battery box seal

One of the Minelab CTX 3030 disadvantages was the problem of sand ingress into the battery box. It was a serious problem, hunters themselves tried to seal the joint. Since 2016, the Minelab CTX 3030 metal detectors are produced with a new enhanced seal.

New armrest lock

The Minelab CTX 3030 armrest has adjustment – you can move it choosing the most comfortable arm position. But… If you often use this adjustment, the armrest loses its locking ability.
The Minelab CTX 3030 upgrade version has the armrest lock with additional fixing.

How to recognize the upgraded Minelab CTX 3030

The metal detectors that include these updates are marked with a special stamp. Starting from 2016, all new Minelab CTX 3030 metal detectors must have such a stamp.

I am wondering will there be other stamps? Maybe it’s time to produce a New Shaft Lock stamp? The Minelab CTX 3030 shaft that slips out – is it a trivial matter?

In sober fact, the problems of the Minelab CTX 3030 construction are not the most important ones. Personally I am not comfortable with the CTX 3030’s signal processing speed. When the targets are close together, the detector combines the responses. But the manufacturer can hardly solve this issue (at least not in CTX 3030).
