What to do when the coil ears break? (Using the example of Mars MD Tiger)

Without which digging is impossible? Some time ago I would have said that without a pinpointer (I can’t even remember the time when I was digging without a pin), but recently one of the diggers shared a photo &amp ;#8212; he went digging with Makro Racer and was left without a reel in the literal sense of the word. Our reel is quite famous, the Tiger model from the Ukrainian company Mars MD. All data on the coil is here — Coil MarsMD 13×10 Tiger.

Comrade admits that he used the coil as usual on the mine, without any impacts on the ground and so on. It just broke. But I want to continue, right? There is nothing else left to do but look in your pockets and in your car for something you can use to connect the coil to the rod. And a solution was found — everything was solved with ordinary insulating tape, a simple and correct solution that the digger should always have at hand! Feeble-mindedness and courage, no, intelligence and resourcefulness!

What the solution with electrical tape looks like in practice:

Sleight of hand and no fraud. This option will give you the opportunity to return to the dig for some more time, if you do not take a spare coil with you and leave it at home (usually the stock coil from the device should remain).

It turned out that the problem is in the weak ears of the coils from Mars, produced only for the Makro Racer/Racer 2 model. The whole problem is in the width of the rod of the Makro Racer/Racer 2 and Mars MD uses the standard a blank for the Minelab rod, which guarantees a large number of broken ears on coils for Macro devices. When the problem is resolved — I don’t know, if it happens and Mars MD reports this, I will be happy to publish this news.
