There was such a very interesting operation during the Second World War — The Ardennes offensive of German troops began in mid-December 1944 and ended at the end of January 1945. The idea and idea was not bad — with a swift blow, defeat the British and US troops in the Netherlands and Belgium, thereby forcing the Western Allies to agree to a separate peace treaty, and then, if possible, jointly defeat and stop the Red Army troops, preventing the «liberators» go deep into Europe. However, the operation did not achieve its goals, the offensive was disrupted, and so on. But what is noteworthy in this story is not the actions of the Nazi troops, but their consequences. Somewhere in the vastness of that operation, the Germans shot and killed a soldier of the valiant US Army. Sources indicate that he was shot in the mountainous terrain of Luxembourg, well, maybe. Somewhere in such thickets they found an American soldier. Naturally, he had all the necessary equipment and property — the photo shows a pistol, a barrel, grenades and shovels. It is quite possible that something belonged to his brothers in arms.However, this was not what surprised the diggers. It turned out that the killed soldier had his own camera and many years later they managed to find it! And not only find a camera, but also take out the film from it and develop it. Historian Jean Muller restored not only photographs — those few shots that the soldier managed to take, but also to identify the photographer — the soldier’s name was Luis Archambo.
