Freaks on the mine (a digger’s tale)
And how often do you come across extraordinary people with a metal detector while digging? 63~”.
I came across the first such weirdo this year in early spring, when the snow had just melted and there was simply an endless amount of places for digging.
My partner and I went out to check one place, and then, if unsuccessful, move to a tavern. When we arrived at the cop’s point, there was already a car parked there, the owner of which was walking around with a detector on a nearby hill. While we were putting down our metal detectors, the car owner’s partner managed to approach us. We met. And then his next question simply nailed us down: “how many treasures have you already raised this season?.” What treasures, the season has just begun? And then he began to tell us that he had already raised three treasures, and during the season he digs up more than a dozen of them. You look at him and think: “well, here you are standing with a CTX 3030 with a large coil, a Garrett Pro-Pointer is visible in the holster, and you’re clearly putting noodles in our ears.” We didn’t talk to this “serious digger” for a long time – we left to dig through the place.
He may have picked up a good treasure last year and bought himself a rather expensive metal detector, but this is the maximum that an ordinary digger can pick up. I don’t believe in a dozen (even half a dozen) treasures raised by one person in a season.
We have one field where comrades meet. I don’t even know why it attracts them.
This is how we went to this place last time. As we were driving, we met a guy on foot with a fully loaded backpack. They couldn’t even think that it was a digger – they assumed that a person was going to the dacha for an overnight stay (the village is located on the edge of a field). But when they saw him later on the field, they couldn’t resist and approached him and asked if he was seriously planning to spend the night here. He replied that he was going to. How!? How can you stay overnight on the bank of a river, when at night the air temperature stays at zero, and in the morning the entire bank is covered in drizzle? But the guy is determined to stay overnight, and the instrument shows (XP Deus) that he I don’t joke with such things. Isn’t he a weirdo?
The second trip gave us a comrade on the field, which was already scary to approach. For the first half hour, he, like us, walked around the field, and then stopped on a hump and began to dig it up. So, in the middle of a private field, he began to dig a huge hole. What is the chance that he will find at least something there? And how many chances are there that one of the locals won’t see his excavation and notify the farmer? Well, isn’t he a weirdo?
One familiar digger shared his statistics on encountering strange comrades on a mine: he says that you will meet at least 5 of them in a season.
And you often come across such eccentric diggers?
Weirdos — one of the usual phenomena of a cop. And they read the story of how comrade dug a field in Kievan Rus? Interesting! And another story — what an interesting find the comrade came across: Cross-shaped icon of the 12th century!
