Review of Nokta Fors Relic. Part I. Search modes (depth test+)
Today I will talk about the Turkish device Nokta Fors Relic, fortunately I have already managed to use it quite extensively for six months. I’ll start, perhaps, with the search modes, of which it has six different ones — GEN, DI2, DI3, COG, DEP and SWT. Let’s face it, there is plenty to choose from and even something to get confused about!
GEN (General Mode) is similar to the «all metals» a number of other devices. This is the deepest mode of operation, but requires a special approach, since it does not have discrimination. Chernina and flower grass ring exactly the same. When turning on the GEN mode, it is recommended to use the automatic ground balancing option; look for a large toggle-type button on the side with the inscription «GROUND TRACKING». In all other modes it is better to turn it off. If you set out to completely knock out a piece of land, then after removing the top debris, use this mode.
DI2 and DI3 — 2-tone and 3-tone discrimination modes respectively.Two-tone distinguishes flower from blackberry, which is understandable, but with three-tone it is more difficult. I haven’t really gotten into this mode quite yet, but the developers state that one grunting tone will indicate black, a second low tone will indicate foil and gold(!), and a third — for all those nice things that a treasure hunter usually looks for in the field, i.e. silver and copper. Thus, according to the manufacturer, the DI3 mode will allow you to dig more successfully, ignoring debris such as foil, but you won’t find gold either, deal with it. To what extent this corresponds to the truth remains to be seen in future trips to the field.
COG (Conductive Ground). This mode is designed specifically for highly conductive soils, such as wet sea sand or alkaline soils. Automatic balancing in all other operating modes allows you to set a value from 40 to 90, and in COG mode any value from 0 to 90! Thanks to this option, as stated, you can use automatic balancing on any soil and you will not lose anywhere in detection depth. If you have to search at the very edge of the water, then definitely try this mode.
Next in line is deep mode or DEP (Deep Mode), which is recommended for searching for treasures. It is the deepest among regimes that discriminate. It is important to remember that in this mode you need to move the coil much slower if you want to achieve a good result.
And finally, garbage mode or SWT (Swift Mode) makes it easier to collect coins from the surface in clogged areas. Response time is reduced by reducing detection depth.
I suggest watching a video on the topic of in-depth testing in GEN mode. The video is in English, although it is not difficult to understand what is happening on the screen. 7 copper coins of different sizes are successively placed in a hole 13, 16 and 19 inches deep. The device is in GEN mode with the sensitivity setting at «90» and with the automatic ground balancing option turned on, he sees coins perfectly, and 19 inches — This is almost half a meter deep! And this is with a standard coil. In general, there is something to think about.
If there is no desire to test and select a mode for yourself — Feel free to set DI2, sensitivity to 85 and don’t forget to do ground balancing as you arrived at the field.
If you want to dig deeper into the literal and figurative sense, then share your experience, together we’ll come up with something!
