Fisher F44, turning into a semi-professional device.
I want to share my opinion after a year of using the Fisher F44 . Since the winter this year was quite mild, we were able to use the device in almost all seasons and in different weather conditions, including autumn rains, snow, and frosts down to -10 degrees. Fischer, as stated, turned out to be truly all-weather. But I wanted to tell you not about the reliability of this device, which is not yet very appreciated by diggers, but about how I turned it into a detector of a different level.
It’s no secret that the simplest a way to improve your device — This is to replace the standard search coil with a third-party search coil. My choice fell on the Nel Hunter (Cors Scout) because of the versatility of this reel, it is convenient to walk across fields with it, and climb with it in hard-to-reach places — through forests, for example.
Fisher with this coil began, of course, to see more deeply, but the most important thing: his already good discrimination has improved; often in very dubious cases, comrades with Deus ask me to determine what is under the coil — flower or iron. I have already understood my device so well that with a very high degree of probability I can immediately tell what is under my coil.
With the Fisher F44 you dig much less than with other devices of the same level or a higher class. The only thing that upsets me so far — this is an indicator of the depth of this device. I tried to do various tests with a new coil and the results were not particularly encouraging, but in real, so to speak, field conditions, the result is always pleasing: coins rise from various depths regularly, with a clear definition that it is a coin under the coil.
My Fisher recently passed serious tests in the swamp, it was the so-called war cop.
Iron sees very deeply, more than with a bayonet, which is interesting, a hand grenade «lemon» F1 with a fuse, sees like pure black metal.
And deep and large fragments from shells are thrown into the flower beds, but experience with this device quickly helps me determine that these are large pieces of rusty iron.
I also wanted to tell you about the device I purchased and installed on my Fisher. This is the Garrett Z-Lynk™ Wireless System.
Its price, of course, is quite high, but I didn’t regret for a second that I purchased this particular system from Garrett. Fisher, combined with her, makes coping even in very difficult conditions very comfortable. I will not describe the technical parameters, I will say the main thing that distinguishes this system from cheaper ones: firstly, 30 hours of operation of the transmitter and receiver, believe me, this is very important, waterproofness and good quality, and I also really like that you can connect any headphones that suit you best, depending on the location and weather where you are digging.

Thinking about which metal detector to get? For starters, the Fisher F44 would be an excellent option, I used it a lot until I replaced it with a cooler and more sophisticated one. Although, not every device can compare with its lightness and simplicity, as well as functionality. The main thing is that it’s a good place to cop! And the lighter the device, the more energy you will have to dig up finds! 😉 No fluff!
