The ancient Greek helmet of a Hoplite (heavily armed foot warrior) was found the other day in Ukraine, even surprisingly, it was found with old Aska. Although why be surprised — Over the entire history of their production, Asek has been sold in the CIS countries for almost a million, such a popular and legendary model.
I can’t tell you much, because there is no data on where and how I picked it up, what the signal was, how I dug it up so as not to damage it, otherwise I suddenly confused it with a shmurdyak and began to pull it towards myself with my hands, and broke the edge of the helmet! But judging by the photo, the condition is very normal and suitable for a complete restoration!
And the continuation of the story! It is not at all surprising that the kind digger immediately put the find up for auction. Moreover, for such a fabulous amount for an ordinary digger with ICQ from Ukraine — $11,765 Yes, yes, this is all in American green rubles. But he failed to sell this find and we no longer know what happened next. Is the digger alive? Did he receive money for his find?

I think that Hoplite reenactors would be simply happy to have such a find for themselves for reconstruction. But okay, according to the mind, such a find should be handed over to the state, there won’t be any problems (I was walking through the forest and looking for mushrooms, and here the helmet was lying under a layer of turf, I accidentally tripped and found it & #8212; such a legend can be made up), and it will be what to show to children and grandchildren later, since people with the right education and the right hands will repair and restore everything themselves, after which the helmet will sparkle and delight the eyes of museum visitors and history buffs. Easy money comes and goes quickly, but no dollar can buy memory.
