How does plowing a field affect the appearance of “new” coins?
Good mood to you, dear readers of our blog. I, like many of you, try to approach coin mining with a scientific approach – observation and analysis. Therefore, I like to compare and analyze certain results of coin mining. And today I want to share with you one such observation.
So. Location. A field where once stood a village of 40-50 households. The village was resettled in the 70s under the program of liquidation of unpromising villages. Residents, some moved to a neighboring village, while others left for natural reasons. The main finds are coins of the late empire, early councils and individual household items, such as medal badges and copper toys.
What is interesting about this field??? And the fact that it is divided into potatoes and grains. Two thirds of the former village is a grain field, one third is a potato field. Naturally, the depth of plowing and turnover of the fertile layer in each area is different.
In a potato field, the plowing depth is up to half a meter. Then, as in a grain field, they plow once a year to a depth of 30 centimeters.
And so, last week the grain field was harvested and the stubble was covered. Not a field, but a digger's dream. I went there to dig according to the advice. Although, maybe you can find something throughout the empire. I walked up and down, back and forth, changed the reel, and in the swag there was only one poop. Very sad.
Then he went to work on the plowed foundations. I found a broken cross. Which made it even sadder. These are not the results I expected.
Which ones? You ask. And now I will give an example of the result from another part of the field. The one under the potatoes. I have been digging there regularly for three years, every time farmers harvest potatoes.
Here is an example of the results of a dig in a potato field last year. I dug for about six hours.
Oh, this is the result of a dig in a potato field the year before last in the same area. I also dug for 6-7 hours
Ah, this is the overall result of the dig in the grain part of the field this year. I stayed on the field for about five hours.
So, I think the result of how the depth of plowing the field affects the appearance of “new” coins is more than clear.
Dear readers, if you have your own results on how, after plowing, you were able to dig well in the knocked out places, write about it in the comments. Photos are welcome.
I wish all the diggers good luck and a treasured treasure for the reel.
