How Minelab makes money from metal detectors? (news and facts+)

0 45

I recently read the Minelab website and found quite a lot of interesting information about devices, finds, and in general a lot of different information about the company itself. And we are all diggers, waiting and looking for new devices that would bring more finds. And judging by all the collected data, Minelab is preparing something big and interesting!

But first things first. Firstly, I was interested to know whether the company had lost the market from sales of its new Minelab Go-Find series products. Cheap state employees for the whole family. Rumor has it that the company spent five million dollars on their development, but the series turned out to be quite a failure on sale. Of course, as detectors they are no different, but they are quite suitable for extras and beginners. Considering that someone else generally manages to dig with various sticks and diggers, like Chinese devices, so in addition to the Chinese ones, I would take Go Find, at least it will be more fun to dig for corks. 🙂

It turned out that everything is not as sad as it seems at first glance:

Almost $20+ million more. I wish I could sell detectors like this…

Well, there is certainly no failure in terms of amounts.

Secondly, I can’t help but wonder how Minelab is developing new devices. And then I found an interesting article on their website, it says that the company received $6 million from the Ministry of Defense of its native Australia to develop new devices for military. Allegedly, some completely new technologies will be developed (we’ll look at the patents later), one can only wonder — By 2018, they will make such a device for the military and will they begin to use the technology developed with money from the Ministry of Defense to create a new line of metal detectors for cops? An example of a device that is being developed for the military:

An unusual digging stick with a cool screen. I wonder if the new technology will be so effective that it will also remain within an acceptable price range for diggers around the world?

Time will tell. So far, I’ve only heard rumors about a new line of devices from Minelab; they say it will be released in the winter-spring of 2017. Just before the new season!
