The famous Grater, about whom much has already been said and even more has been said. But what kind of blog is about diggers and instrumental search if it doesn’t have Minelab X-Terra 705? It’s quite an impossible thing, I think, to do digging and not write about Terka. I’ve been thinking about buying for a long time, then I found a dealer in a neighboring country and bought a Grater set at a good price.
What was included in this blue box, with an image of the device against the backdrop of the Australian mountains and next to an outstretched hand with a mountain of treasures? We only raise such treasures in mounds. 🙂 It’s doubtful that you can raise this on one field.
Inside everything was quite simple, but tasteful. At least Minelab sticks all the instructions and warranty card on the lid of the box, and doesn’t just put it inside. Convenient and simple. And the rest is simple — disassembled metal detector, coil (depending on the kit, I had 10’5 DD 7.5 kHz), detector blog, packed in a neat bag with pimples, as well as a separate bag with bolts for the coil, a screw for attaching the detector block and armrest strap.
Everything is accessible in the book and it describes in detail how to assemble the detector and all the modes and settings are described in detail. The device is assembled a little unusually; the block is installed directly on the handle and then screwed on. I decided to screw it on right away so that there wouldn’t be any problems in using the device, you never know if you go to the cops often and on the 101st time the block will simply start to play and doesn’t hold well on the handle if you don’t screw it in and use it for a long time.
The collet clamps are quite interesting — they will not break, as in the Garrett AT PRO, for example, it is enough to make one half turn and they will fall into place and you will not need to twist further. Assembly is simple. 🙂
The wire is inserted into the connector, which is located exactly in the middle of the block, and the speaker is located above it. The battery compartment is also visible; you just need to lift the lid and 4 x AA standard AA batteries are inserted inside.
The grater is assembled, the large coil is also visible, which I recently wrote about here — DD coil Minelab 15″ 3 kHz for X-Terra series metal detectors. The manufacturer recommends using special clamps for the wire from the coil, which are best placed at the bottom of the coil and another one next to the wire exit to the detector block. To save time, I rarely use such things and leave a small loop in the area of the coil and do not completely tighten the wire.
Turka’s armrest is quite comfortable, at least it’s wide and you can hold your hand in clothes quite comfortably, but not with your bare hand. Even for my large hand, the armrest is a little wide and, as it seemed to me, it was quite easy to break it if you apply force or accidentally step on it. Let’s see, I’m digging a lot, if the armrest lasts a long time and doesn’t let me down, I’ll let you know about it!
For me, the device seemed very interesting and promising. The ability to change the frequency using coils or one coil (if you have a three-frequency system, for example), advanced settings, ease of use. Let’s see how he performs in action! Good cop!
