Minelab Vanquish is a new budget metal detector, new for 2019! First data and photos!
Minelab Vanquish has been known for a long time, right after the conference, but I don’t want to reveal the details, and I don’t want to write outright rumors and guesses. However, since Minelab posted its teaser video for the new product, I will do it. So, what is known about the new Minelab Vanquish metal detector?
Essentially, here we are dealing with a greatly stripped-down Minelab Equinox series metal detector. Why cut down? Because it will be intended only for beginners, but it will give them something that no manufacturer of budget metal detectors has yet provided. What does a budget metal detector mean now? Two or three search modes, limited discrimination, one frequency, no water resistance, simple coil (mono, concentric or small DD).
Minelab makes a knight's move and immediately gives us multi-frequency in its budget metal detector – Multi-IQ technology! Yes, the same Multi-IQ technology that was used in the Equinox series metal detectors.
DD coil, as can be seen from the photo. The mold is similar to that of the coils for the Equinox series – there is no need to invest twice in a new molding, everything is correct. Since the beach is shown, I would not be surprised that the metal detector will be waterproof – there is no information on this yet, but this picture with water and a dominant coil above it directly indicates the search qualities for beach searching, and not on dry sand, but in a strip surf and water.
The metal detector itself will be red, with a minimum of settings. Why do we need settings if they are already available in Equinox 600 and 800? The device is budget-friendly and for mass search, but with multi-frequency technology, which gives a big advantage in the price class over other competitors, for example, Garrett. It’s not for nothing that Garrett is “drowned” at the beginning of the video.
Since multi-frequency technology copes better with various complex soils, we have everything in the video – the beach, the field, and the mountains. The device is universal, it will be in the price of Asek. Killer Asek created? We'll see, time will tell.
The body shows a lot in common with Equinoxes, but in order to distinguish it from the Equinox series, the device was “painted” in an aggressive red color. Whatever you say, the marketers at MineLab do an excellent job.

In general, everything important and basic was said; in short, Vanquish is:
- Budget metal detector
- Multi-frequency (Multi-IQ technology)
- Waterproof (up to how many meters, question?)
- Includes DD coil
- Price tag at the Asek level
What to expect next? As soon as there is news and more information, I will definitely publish it. Wait, refresh the page, check, all the most verified news in the world of instrumental search is only on our blog.
Update – what the metal detector looks like
Minelab knows how to create hype, they did it right. We shot a second video and made it pretty cool, in the style of Hollywood action films.
Is it just me, or does the new Vanquish look reminiscent of the old Explorer with a new rod and coil from Equinox? Look:
The problem, of course, is that the new detector is priced at a beginner's digger price point and will compete with the Garrett ACE units, which are in the same price class. Such a strong hype should be created for a professional detector, so that the already established digging community would want to exchange their Deus, Zozo, Fisher F75, etc. for a new product, and who would want to switch from Garrett ACE to Vanquish? A dubious benefit, it’s better to take the same Equinox or XP Deus. And creating hype and advertising for newbies waiting for a detector is fun, as long as it's not aimed at the Minelab GoFind audience who would happily trade their digging sticks for the new Vanquish when it comes out.
It is doubtful that the detector will be better than Equinox or Deus/ORX, and therefore the point of the hype is unclear, unless it is an open challenge to other metal detector manufacturers, they say, move faster and move.
By the way, for fans of prizes and competitions, there is a chance to win a free Minelab Vanquish. It’s strange that there’s only one (although it’s not written about the quantities, I would make the first 100 detectors a prize and send them all over the world), but if anyone is interested, the details are here: link to the competition .
For those who do not understand English, here are some brief instructions:
1. You need to download the picture and make a post on your page on social networks (Facebook and Instagram only), picture:
2. In the post, indicate where you would first go to dig with a new detector, for example, you would go to finish off the tavern.
3. Put the hashtag #WhereWillYouVANQUISH and be sure to tag @MinelabMetalDetectors (Facebook) or @minelabdetecting (Instagram).
Wait for the result until August 16, 2019.
And about the video, am I the only one surprised by the collection of finds at one point on the mountain? Look:
First there is a spear, a gold ring and a death token (LOZ) from the Second World War, and then:
Silver coins and Rolex watches!
But you and I know that in life everything is much more prosaic… 🙂 Cork, garbage, foil, where is it all? And someone lost a Rolex on the mountain.
PS I was too lazy to cut the screenshots into videos myself, so I took them from the White Digger. Well, he’s not the only one to take other people’s photos, right? 🙂
