2020 promises to be an interesting year in terms of new products from metal detector manufacturing companies. New products from Garrett are on the way, Vanquish devices from Minelab have been announced for a long time and are being actively promoted by everyone who is not too lazy, but so far they have not been seen for sale. The XP Detectors company is very consistent in its new products – first the announcement, pre-orders begin, and after some time (a month maximum) all pre-orders are fulfilled. The rest have something to strive for.

This happened with a new product from XP (shouldn’t they just produce metal detectors?) – the new XP280 backpack .

I’ll say right away that the new backpack is not as cheap as it seems, but there is a reason for this – as Uncle Izya from Odessa says: “I’m not rich enough to buy cheap things” and in this he is right. As a person who, at one time, being in various “hot” and not so hot places, managed to carry and destroy more than one backpack in field trips and not only, from the description of the materials and looking at the sewing on the backpack, I can already determine how long it will last and what kind The strength of the backpack will wear out. At the moment, fortunately or unfortunately, I now manage to sit at home more or go by car to the coping point, rather than dragging a backpack for 20/40/60 km with supplies weighing 30-40 kg and another 10 kg of things.

The backpack for the XP company was developed by one team of professionals who are engaged in the development of mountaineering/hiking equipment, but with an emphasis on the specifics of our search/treasure hunting activity, namely, the placement in many pockets and bags of objects that should not be exposed to external influences, should be completely It is impossible for objects to fall out and be lost, and for placing additional accessories and necessary items for travel in the backpack (it doesn’t matter – a thermos/sandwiches or a camera with a tripod, whoever needs what). And another, important factor is modularity. The backpack can be combined and additional bags placed on it on any side and to your liking, but first things first.

The backpack is made of high-quality fabric – polyester with a density of 600D and 1000D. The backpack can be very easily adjusted for comfortable wearing – there are 9 compression straps in 5 zones, this is an indicator of a premium backpack that will not break and will serve its owner for a long time.

Backpack price:

The backpack costs 150 euros – this is for a complete set of a backpack + a bag for finds, which can be worn separately and bought separately (around 25 euros). Also, the backpack can be purchased separately and without a lost-and-found bag, it will cost around 130 euros, the final prices can already be seen in stores.

If someone is now clutching their heart at the sight of the price of 150 euros (oh, yes, I’d rather carry a metal detector in my duffel bag for 500 rubles), then look better at the products of the Tasmanian Tiger companies (backpacks) or clothes from the Carinthia company. I’m sure you haven’t even heard of such famous guys, but their price tags and quality/convenience are amazing.

Externally, the backpack has fastenings for a shovel, which can be hung and secured with special clips, there are MOLLE fastenings for your own pouches, side pockets for a bottle/thermos and raincoat, a belt for transferring gravity from the shoulders to the belt (naturally), anatomical straps and a breathable, quick-drying back.

Yes, the backpack is designed to spend hours in it, and despite the weight, the backpack can be worn for a long time and persistently just because of the well-thought-out weight distribution system.

The kit also includes a rain cover to protect the backpack from bad weather. Yes, that’s right – all good backpacks come complete with a raincoat (not all – Tasmanian Tiger sells raincoats separately for 25 or more euros apiece, live with it).

Lost and Found Bag

Here, for 25 euros separately or as part of a set for the full amount, there is also a bag for finds with its own strap, but which can also be hung on the belt of a backpack.

The bag has a large pocket for lost finds, which closes with a tightenable clip, and there is an additional small pocket on the side for small items.

A case with an MI-6 or MI-4 pin from the XP company also attaches perfectly to the handbag.

Inside the backpack there is a lot of space for storing and attaching the XP rod, coils and everything necessary for using XP metal detectors. Yes, other devices will fit into the bag, but you understand that the maximum convenience here was created specifically for the XP ORX and Deus, and also (probably) for the upcoming new product from XP.

There is also a separate pocket for wireless headphones – both WS-5 and the case with WS-4 headphones inside fit freely. Both headphone models work with XP Deus and ORX.

A phone bag is also attached separately, into which house/car keys fit perfectly, as well as your hiking navigator (I’ll check if my Garmin eTrex 30 will fit).

As you can see, the backpack turned out to be excellent and convenient for one or two-day hikes in nature with your own metal detector. The backpack will fit dry rations and everything for cooking, what a miracle, huh?
