Quest Metal Detectors, a new manufacturer, has rolled out its new products – the Quest Q20, Quest Q40, and Quest PRO machines… Take a look at these novelties 2017. Does it seem Fisher/Teknetics weren’t enough for the Chinese, and now they are setting up pranks against Minelab and Garrett?

A Quest Q20 metal detector. IP66-rated waterproof. Built-in USB rechargeable battery. Large screen with backlight. Probable wireless headphone connection (has a jack for wired headphones). Price: $259. Going on sale in September 2017.
Important clarification: being IP66 certified, the machine can be only formally called an underwater one. In actual practice, a completely submersible unit capable of working in water up to 1-3 meters starts from the IP68 standard. With the IP66 announced, the device can withstand rain, or you can be not afraid to wash it under running water.
The Quest Q20 has a 9 kHz frequency and is based on VLF technology (type of circuit). There are 3 preset search programs. A dual-tone response. For identification of targets there is a 10 segment discriminator scale with VDI numbers in the 0 to 99 range. Automatic and manual ground balance.
The Quest Q20 comes with a straight 3-piece demountable shaft. Adjustable length from 80 cm to 130 cm. Built-in rechargeable 1200 mAh Li-Po battery. Battery life: up to 20 hours. Weight: 1,050 g with a Blade coil (a stock one: 9.5?5 inches/ 22.5?28 cm, Turbo D) or 1,350 g with a Raptor coil (9?11 inches/ 22.5?28 cm, Turbo D).
Quest Q40
A Quest Q40 metal detector. The main distinction from its junior Quest Q20 model is a 13 kHz frequency, 5 search programs, a 6-tone response, plus real time ground effect monitoring. IP66 waterproof rating (see above for clarification). Built-in USB rechargeable battery. Large screen with backlight. Wireless headphone connection (has a jack for wired headphones). Price: $469. Sales launch: September 2017.
The Quest Q40 is based on VLF technology (type of circuit) with the operating frequency of 13 kHz. There are 5 preset search programs. A 6-tone response. For identification of targets there is a 20 segment discriminator scale which… is located vertically along the left side of the screen. Well! The Chinese have given us a surprise. How can you say now that it’s a counterfeited Teknetics or Fisher machine? )) In addition to vertical graphic discrimination scale, the detector has usual VDI numbers in the range of 0-99. Also, there is automatic and manual ground balance as well as real time ground effect monitoring.

Large screen with backlight and a separate LED discrimination scale. Wireless headphones and smartphone connectivity. Built-in USB rechargeable 2000 mAh Li-Po battery. The price and sales launch date is currently unknown.
5 search programs, a 6-tone response. The rest of the features (ground balance, weight, battery life, and more) are similar to those of the Quest Q40 detector.
Don’t you think the machines marked with 20 and 40 do already exist? Having received a severe jolt from Fisher/Teknetics, are the Chinese now jerking Minelab’s chain?
Let me remind you: First Texas, the company producing Fisher, Teknetics, Bounty Hunter detectors, recently sued Deteknix into the ground.
