Review and tests of Garrett ACE 300i – everything you need to know about the new detector from Garrett

As I predicted earlier — Garrett has released a new line of budget devices to replace the old and familiar ASI in the future, but how long will it take them to win and promote their devices in the same way as the ICQ 250? was promoted? A difficult task, and maybe even impossible .

From my experience I will say — I had the new ICQ at an exhibition in the USA, this is a slightly cheaper Proshka and created with new components, that is, Garrett AT PRO. Much has migrated from AT PRO, the price has fallen, water resistance to 3 meters has disappeared, the result is very good devices for their price. This is from a technical point of view. From a practical point of view, there are no more finds, but with the proper choice of place, you will find finds with any digging stick.

Of course, for such a budget device, the presence of a discrimination mask and five search programs can be called a breakthrough. The only pity is that the volume cannot be adjusted, and the problems with the rod clamps are still the same.

I would compare the new ICQ 300 with the old ICQ 250. As I understand it, the 300th new model will replace the old 250, which is logical: 150 — 200, 250 — 300, 350 — 400. The logic behind the names of the new budget Garrett models is clear.

The biggest plus I would highlight here is — This is undoubtedly the appearance of the VDI indicator. Without VDI, it is quite difficult for a beginner to search, because you move the device over the signal and hear one incomprehensible sound, but what is there? Tab from a can? Cork? Ring or coin? It is clear that when this is your tenth output on a mine, then you will intuitively understand, but when these are the first exits and you are a beginner and your first time on a mine? With VDI it will be easier to understand what approximately can lie in the ground and what this signal belongs to. Example: you came to the beach and dug up the fifth tab from a jar. By the sixth time using VDI, you will already understand that this is very similar to the tongue of a can, and you will decide whether to dig or not to dig on the spot. Yes, someone says that we need to dig for all the signals. Of course, it is necessary, but while you are digging up the next piece of iron or plug, your comrades will raise all the rings in the vicinity.
