Perhaps it is impossible to underestimate a cop wearing headphones, this is exactly the rule that is learned over the years as a cop, and if any of you still think that headphones for a cop are bullshit, then give me your broken cop points and I will walk there with pleasure in headphones ! New finds are guaranteed, the only question is their quantity.
The manufacturer of metal detectors and accessories, the Svarog company, has been offering its universal Svarog 106 headphones at an excellent price since the beginning of this year. The question here is not so much the price, because it is ridiculous (about 4900 rubles), but the usefulness of these ears.
If until now we mostly had more expensive solutions (top-end Garrett Z-Lynk) or moderately cheap ones (Deteknix), then you can always go to a completely budget level, which will not hit your pocket hard, like the solutions presented above.
All metal detectors currently have a headphone jack. The connectors differ, of course, some models have their own, but in general, these headphones can be used on 95% of popular metal detectors! This is the most important bonus.
I tested the Svarog 106 headphones together with the Garrett ACE 300i metal detector. This is my relative’s device, he likes to use it to dig war and the beach (an interesting combination), I took it for my short vacation. There is still snow in the forests, as you can see, but it’s still great to walk through the spring forest with Aska, listen to signals, dig up all sorts of walking aids and tips, and at the same time see how these new headphones behave.
They work using a transmitter (above in the photo) and a receiver (the headphones themselves). The main thing in digging headphones is the speed of signal transmission, so that there is no delay and, we can safely say, no delays were detected. Human hearing is also not perfect, fortunately, which means there is no point in measuring the delay speed – if it is invisible and the headphones give a signal in the place when the coil is in the center of the find, then what else is needed?
The other main feature of these ears is the transmitted signal itself. How is this expressed?
It's simple – very often on cheap wireless headphones the signal is transmitted only at the peak of its climax. That is, if the signal is weak (quiet), or the find only falls within part of the coil’s field of view, then there is no signal. And I noticed this with many cheap headphones, which is why I didn’t use them. We can safely assure that there are no such problems with Svarog 106 either. You can hear both a quiet signal and a weak increase in the signal from the find to its most active peak, when the signal is the strongest. Exactly the same transition occurs when you move the coil away from the target to the side.
The headphones themselves sit comfortably and firmly on the head and ears, and do not fall off when you have to bend over and dig/search. Also a very important factor. The sound quality is acceptable, it does not cause disgust, but it cannot be called ideal either. But do not forget that a metal detector is not a professional sound or musical instrument designed to transmit sound in first-class quality. There is no point in using Bose or Sennheiser headphones together with metal detectors – they simply will not reveal all their best qualities.
What can be the general conclusion about these headphones?
They are universal and come complete with a transmitter and an adapter from a small connector to a large one – this is a plus.
There is no sound delay – that's a plus.
No sound interruption during fade in/out is a plus.
The battery lasts for a long time (we worked for exactly 12 hours) – this is a plus.
They are light and comfortable, there is a volume control – this is a plus.
They are cheap – this is a big plus.
What else do you need? With such advantages, there is no point in looking at the small disadvantages; they will all be immediately and greatly outweighed by the bonuses from the headphones and the joy of the finds.
