Digger Mikhail sent us his interesting story about the find — Don’t forget that your interesting stories can also be published on my blog! I collect everything interesting for diggers on the blog, read, we have a lot of stories, tales, reviews and other facts and interesting data on our favorite hobby!

Hello everyone. My name is Michael. I want to tell you about an interesting find that I made on my first trip with my new Nel Thunder reel.

I bought my ICQ quite recently. Having tried the metal detector in operation, I realized that a standard mono coil has both a small detection depth and a small capture. While choosing a new coil for my device, I came across a new product from Nel. I bought it and now I can share with everyone the story of the first release with the new product.

And indeed, the oval maneuvers well between branches and trees, thereby penetrating into all hard-to-reach places.

The first discovery was not long in coming. Right under the branches of a small bush, Thunder took out 3 kopecks from 1982.

The next find was a copper tube, bent at both ends.

Maybe there is some value hidden there, or a message to descendants? When I opened the pipe, ashes spilled out. Apparently, when the dry leaves were burned, the contents of the homemade capsule also burned.

The time allotted for the search was coming to an end. Coming out to the edge of the forest, the metal detector saw a colored target with a clear response. When I dug it up, I saw a bronze bent nail.

I thought it was a piece of horse harness, or some other old pad. By the way, the depth was 22 – 25 centimeters.

When I showed the find to a fellow searcher, he said that it was very similar to a Scythian earring. With this answer he only made me laugh.

At home I decided to check what my friend had said. I entered the query “Scythian earring” into the search line and the first picture showed my find. I was very surprised.

After some digging on the Internet, this is what I found out about my earring: “…earrings or temple pendants with a rounded shield, shaped like the head of a nail (hence their name nail-shaped) or mushroom and S-shaped or loop-shaped , round in cross-section. Such earrings date back to the 6th – 4th centuries BC. Imagine: my find is 2500 years old!

This was my first output with the NEL THUNDER coil.

This is again a continuation of my topic on large and alternative reels. Is it worth equipping your device with additional coils or not? One digger has already sent us his experience in updating the device with a new coil — Are additional coils needed for a metal detector? (Experience of using Nel Sharpshooter)

Let me remind you that you can send your stories to my email: hobby.detecting@gmail.com

Good luck on the mine!
