A fragment of a magazine with a list of fighters of the 385th Infantry Regiment of the 112th Infantry Division in 1942 (Nakhodka, a competitive history of a digger!)

In the summer of 2017, members of the “Red Army Man” search team found the remains of a soldier with a tablet near the Liska River. Among the documents, fragments of a journal were found with a list of fighters of the 385th Infantry Regiment of the 112th Infantry Division and a pay book of the commanding staff of the Red Army.

Using the OBD-memorial archive, the following was installed:

In July 1942, the division was sent to Stalingrad. On August 5, 1942, the 112th Infantry Division had a strength of more than 8 thousand people. As a result of the concentric attack and the exit of tanks with enemy infantry, the 112th Infantry Division found itself pressed against the river. Don and began crossing the river. Enemy tanks rushed after the retreating tanks to the bridge. In order to avoid taking over the bridge (and also crossing the bridge was no longer possible due to the tank burning on it), the bridge was blown up at 14.30 on August 8, 1942. The people and equipment of the 112th Infantry Division remained on the right bank of the Don beyond the blown-up crossing.
