Okay, I read the reviews, looked and ordered.
I told my friends about this, and they: «you’re kidding, what could be better than the usual Fiskars?». But curiosity took over, so I waited for my two parcels — yes, I took two shovels, Gladius, a larger one, for digging in fields/forests, and a BigFoot model shovel — smaller, for easy digging in open fields. Now I’ll tell you about Gladius, because I went with Gladius the most.
When the Gladius arrived in the mail and I finally picked it up, I realized why this shovel is so popular in the UK. It’s very simple — balance, size, comfort, footrests, it’s clear that everything was designed by diggers for diggers.
Gladius is only a meter and 13 cm high. But despite this, the shovel is compact and convenient. Compact in the sense that it doesn’t look or feel as bulky as my regular long Fiskar. Easy, considering the many hours of walking through the fields with a metal detector in one hand and a shovel in the other, my digging has become much simpler and easier. I stopped getting tired so quickly, because even the short Fiskar felt quite massive than the Black ADA Gladius.
