Garrett Pro-Pointer AT Z-Lynk and MS-3 headphones – our review!

I remember the time when we were digging without pinpointers and, moreover, we didn’t even know what it was and why it was needed. I'm not even talking about wireless headphones – for us it was a completely different world and we didn't even think about it. Cop back then was something like that, at the level of a semi-legal business and movement, when everyone was hiding, digging only away from human eyes, so they didn’t use any headphones. And targets were found only by taking the soil in the palm and shaking the palm in front of the metal detector coil. And this was normal, no one knew or knew an alternative.

It all ended when I found out about pinpointers and my wife gave me my first pin for my birthday, there was joy and happiness. 🙂 And then the comrades saw that with a pin I found targets much faster and easier, and they all wanted to get hold of a pinpointer, so my advice to you, my dear friends, a pinpointer on a cop is simply necessary! Just like wireless headphones, because all together they make our lives simpler and easier. What came of it?

And the fact that Garrett earlier this year released a wireless pinpointer that can be connected to their MS-3 headphones and Z-Lynk transmitter. We already wrote about the release of this pinpointer – Garrett Pro Pointer AT Z-Lynk – new for 2018, we also wrote about the wireless transmitter from Garrett – review of Garrett Z-Lynk.

Garrett Pro-Pointer AT Z-Lynk and MS-3 headphones - our review!

Garrett “Carrot” has long gained popularity among diggers around the world and for good reason – the pinpointer is easy to set up and use, very light and convenient, the color is good – you won’t lose it in the field, it is immersed in water, so with the new variation of the “carrot” some people have touched changes: firstly, as I wrote above, the pin is now wireless and can be connected to MS-3 headphones and the Z-Lynk transmitter (receiver). That is, you can hear the sound from the pin in your own headphones connected to the Z-Lynk wireless module, or if you have MS-3 headphones, then connect to them. It's simple! And secondly, the pinpointer has become even more waterproof and can be submerged up to 6 meters! A serious application for participation, but the pinpointer can really be used on an underwater mine. The pin is light, weighing 200 grams, and comes with a case. It's simple.

To connect a pinpointer to MS-3 headphones or a Z-Lynk module, you just need to turn on one of these devices, bring the switched-off pin to them at a distance of no more than 15 cm, then turn on the pin – it will automatically connect to the wireless device. As soon as you connect the pin, a red light will light up on your device – no need to perform any dances with a tambourine or manipulate buttons.

The next time you turn it on, there is no need to reconnect; the pinpointer and the wireless device remember each other and are automatically activated when you start working.

I use the Z-Lynk wireless module on my Teknetics metal detector, it’s very convenient because you don’t need any wires to connect the MS-3 wireless headphones to the metal detector. The sound is fast and without delays, the pinpointer works in the same way, I hear the pin and I have no delays.

What’s interesting is that when the Garrett pinpointer is connected to headphones, in addition to the pinpointer we also hear our metal detector. I will write a separate post on this topic, where we will look at the pros and cons of this system point by point, so stay tuned for blog updates. 😉

And the Z-Lynk module itself plugs directly into the headphone jack of your metal detector. This can be any metal detector, so you can easily solve the problem with wires if you have this module and MS-3 headphones.

The headphones themselves are light and comfortable, securely covering your ears, so nothing disturbs the cop, you only hear your metal detector. This is especially important if you are digging near roads or in strong winds – it is possible that without headphones you can miss signals when there is strong noise from the side, I have already encountered this, because I live by the sea and the sea wind can very often drown out all sounds.

As a result, I can say my conclusion – at the moment this is the best wireless system in the world that I have used. It is fast, convenient, there are no delays, the battery lasts a long time, it is made with high quality and will last a very long time, I recommend it!

No worries, comrades!
