Treasure from Bredon Hill

It was June 2011. Two diggers from Redditch in England went to the field as usual, since they had permission from the owner of the land. One of them caught a deep signal and began to dig. I found a nail, but the target remained in the ground and told me to dig deeper. What do you think happened next? Clay shards and Roman coins appeared, which became more and more numerous. Realizing their happiness, the friends immediately informed the authorities about the discovery of ancient coins.

A couple of days later, professional archaeologists arrived at the site and began vigorous activity on the field. As a result of a thorough excavation and research, an entire Roman villa was discovered at the site of the find.

As for the treasure itself, they counted no less than 3784 coins minted between 244 and 282 AD, i.e. in the 3rd century. Nominally they were all considered silver, but in reality they were copper. This was caused by an unprecedented decrease in the silver content in coins of that time — up to 1-5%.
