Cop on 365 beaches in the UK – Daniel Holdsworth and his adventure
Funny news found here…
A digger from Keighley (UK) has set himself the serious task of walking with a metal detector on 365 beaches around the entire coast of Great Britain!
Daniel Holdsworth, aka «Deep Digger Dan, is aiming to raise £50,000 for a charity that grants wishes to seriously ill children.
Dan Holdsworth, 42, who lived in Keighley for most of his life until 2010, began his epic challenge in Bridlington on August 20.
He has his own blog and will post videos about the results of his digging on his Youtube channel.
He explained:
«I have decided that I will walk all the coasts of the UK with my detector in aid of a charity. I’m sure many would dream of being able to do this, so I wanted to give people the chance to take the ride through my videos.»
His journey will begin from Bridlington and will continue for 365 days until he arrives back at his starting point.
He started this hobby four and a half years ago.
Living in Germany, he dug through the war, through 1945, and found quite a lot of different finds — bullets, shells, hand grenades and even a submachine gun.
«Instrumental search may seem like an easy hobby for some, but it is not only about digging holes, but also about walking 10 kilometers every day in search of a signal.& ;#187;
Commenting on his progress along the coast since August 20, he said:
«Things are going amazingly well so far, there have been some tiring days and one night I had to sleep in the car while there was a thunderstorm, but overall I I’m in high spirits. My viewers from YouTube even came to see me on the road. What I find in the future depends on where I am. Typical seaside resorts will be full of modern money with possible gold and silver jewelry. But in remote parts of Scotland there is a chance to find some historical finds from the Viking Age. Each village has its own history, so there could be anything from Roman coins to modern bracelets.»
Would you risk walking all the beaches throughout Russia? And once in the 20s, one daredevil rode a bicycle across the entire USSR along all its borders!
