Disadvantages of the XP ORX metal detector that are really annoying
Good mood to you, dear readers of our blog.
The XP ORX metal detector is a really good and worthy device that even a novice digger can easily figure out. The detector is simple to operate, easy to understand and, most importantly, understandable at the level of intuition. All this is good, all this is wonderful, however, you need to be honest and talk about the shortcomings that really irritate and sometimes just infuriate. There are few such shortcomings, but they still exist, and we will talk about this today.
Charging the coil. I am convinced that every owner of an Ork will agree with me that at least once he went into the field with a discharged coil. The fact is that the coil is charged using a contactless connection, and if there is even slight dirt on the contacts, the battery charging process will not proceed properly. And, more precisely, the coil can only be charged by 10% during the entire night on recharging. And this becomes clear only upon arrival at the cop.
Very bad news. It’s good that this happened in a field near my house. And, in general, I then went out to dig for a couple of hours in the evening. Well, my friend told me that such a situation happened to him when he entered a forest village. And he walked to the cop’s place for two hours. It comes, turns on the device, and the coil’s battery charge is at the last level. How so? After all, the coil was charging all night. Ah, it turned out like this.
Of course, one can understand that this is not the manufacturer’s fault, but the user’s. Because there is no point in relying on chance, you go out to the cops and check that the batteries are charged. However, I want to note that it would not be a bad idea to show with an LED light that the coil is not charging correctly. Is it possible to solve this somehow technically?
Background from Deus. When the switched-on Deus approaches the orc, at a distance closer than 10 meters, the XP ORX begins to blare shamelessly, pressing on the ears with a high pitch. Half of my comrades are digging with Deus, so this school of orcs came to light quickly. We found an interesting hillock in the field, where it looked like there was a tavern; the comrades had swooped in to tend the place. And I have nothing to do there. I can't walk next to them. Changing the frequency of the coil only helps if you set the frequency to a minimum of 4 kHz
But Deus suddenly had a flaw. It turned out that if you turn on the XP Mi-6 pinpointer in the vicinity of it, the Deus begins to become filled with background noise. This background can be removed if you synchronize the pinpointer with the device. What should I do if I have the pin and the comrade has Deus? Then the “orc” calmly ignores the pinpointer even if it is not synchronized with the MD.
Thunderstorm background. This phenomenon came as a complete surprise to me. One day in May I go digging in the forest. And then the constant trill of rolling signals begins. At first I thought it was a phone. Turned it off. And nothing. Then I thought it was a background from the ground, but quickly remembered, yesterday I was digging right there and everything was fine. There were no wires in the forest, so it was difficult to understand why the device behaved this way. And only when a clap of thunder rumbled in the distance did I understand what the point was.
Then I took out my smartphone, opened the weather service and looked at the carriages, where and at what distance from me the thunderstorms were occurring. It turned out that the XP ORX responded to thunderstorm fronts that passed 100-150 kilometers from me. This is where it really became offensive. A device for that kind of money could have been prescribed the ability not to react to atmospheric disturbances. After all, the same Deus has such an option.
What's the result? We could also talk about the problem of rapid discharge of the coil battery in cold weather. But only the lazy didn’t write about this anymore. This spring I took two coils with me for reconnaissance and long digging.
I hope my review will be useful to you and, having purchased the XP ORX, you will know in advance that the coil’s charge level must be checked before each trip to the mine. And, also, if the device suddenly starts going crazy with false signals for no reason, this does not mean that it is broken. Just here “I love thunderstorms in early May”
