Fisher F11 – review and test at the proving ground (Video+)
Everyone is now arguing whether Minelab Vanquish will be the Asek killer? Time will tell, but the killer Asek was made a long time ago and this is the Fisher series F11, F22 and F44. Fisher F11 costs pennies, but has something that ICQ does not have – screen backlight, volume, level depth, and moisture protection (you can dig in the rain).
There are also several search modes and 9 discrimination segments, which is more than on the ACE 250.
A simple and easy-to-use metal detector, ideal for a beginner or as an additional (spare) device for an advanced digger. It beeps, which means there is something under the coil, if it’s silent, it means move on.
It runs on one Krona battery, which is enough for a couple of days of digging; you can also use a battery at all. Yes, nowadays everyone wants a built-in battery, but changing batteries is always easier and more reliable than built-in batteries. You can remove the battery and replace it yourself in a couple of seconds, the built-in battery causes a lot of problems, and besides, it is not known what condition the built-in battery will be in after 10 years of use, but a battery-powered device is not afraid of such periods (already tested).
The controls are simple and intuitive, using just a few buttons. How much easier can it be? In addition, there is a static search mode, simply called “pinpoint”. On ICQ there is no 150 pinpoint, but 250 in price already comes out as F11 + pinpointer and shovel, that’s the whole kit for a cop!
We can talk a lot and for a long time about the F11, but the main thing is that the device performed excellently in the test, produced an excellent detection depth of finds for its price, as can be seen in the video, and stable operation. What else do you need for your first digging device?
In this regard, I remain a conservative. No matter how many new devices are released, there will always be those metal detectors that have proven their performance over the years, and any new product will have to work very hard to prove its performance, reliability, foolproof and excellent search characteristics.
Let's see if the new Minelab Vanquish and Nokta Simplex+ will kill Aska and Fishers; at least the second device on the list of new products looks more interesting than the development from Minelab.
No fluff!
