Karma 13″ reel – our review! (photo+)

As you know — The best way to add a little depth to your metal detector is to hang a larger coil on it. This does not mean that snipers have less depth, this is a big misconception, however, in order to increase the productivity of your search and increase the number of finds, you need to have something more in your arsenal than just the standard 10″ or 11″ coil.

Recently, one of the manufacturers of various accessories for gold mining in Bulgaria released its 13″ reel. The most optimal and convenient size for an additional reel and «damn dozen» no problem here! I named the coil simply — Karma. Or maybe a brand, but most likely both. 13″ quite versatile on the cops — it provides both greater depth (approximately +20%) and greater coverage with one swing of the coil, which saves time for picking up lost items in a large field and localizing the most shabby places.

The box and how everything is packaged — it’s just wah wah wah! It can be seen that the manufacturer spent a lot of money even on the mold for the packaging; compare this with a regular box from AKA, for example, or from coils in a bag from Minelab. There is a difference. And this with a reel price below 100 euros!

What’s also surprising is the bolt! It’s plastic, like everyone else’s, but transparent. Unusual. Eye catches on the cop. It closes on the reel and sits almost dead, it can be difficult to unscrew it later, apparently there is a special hook on the thread that prevents the nut from unwinding spontaneously. An interesting solution and, naturally, useful — the chance of losing a bolt on a reel is almost zero.

As you can see — sits tightly.

Now — to the necessary and useful characteristics. The weight of the reel, as you can see in the photo, is 713 g. It’s difficult to say — it is also a lightweight reel compared to «rudders» by 15″, but on the other hand, 713 grams is gradually approaching a kilogram. Extra kilos on the cop — This is additional fatigue. And what about the competitors in this case? Let’s compare.

Let’s take NEL coils. Around 13″ NEL has two coils — Storm and Tornado. Storm’s Weight — 670 g, Tornado weight — 560 g. As you can see, NEL is much lighter in weight than Karma, and it has an additional amplifier in the coil, but the price for NEL coils is higher.

Let’s see Magic Lab — coil weight 13″ only 560 grams. At the same price.

Weight of the Mars Discovery coil, aka 13″ — from 520 grams.

We’ve sorted out the weight, let’s take a look at what else is in the reel and what it looks like.

The cable is securely connected to the reel, so it should not wear out quickly. At least — The comrade who sent the photo has been with her for almost the entire season.

Cable for connecting to a metal detector. There is nothing new here, everything is the same as others. Reliable and robust system with tightening ring.

The reel comes with protection. But you must understand that the protection will not only take 1 cm from the depth, but will also actively collect sand inside itself. And therefore, it is necessary to clean it constantly, and this applies to all reels, Karma is no exception!

The ears are also reliable, but not as reinforced as those of NEL, for example.

In our case, the coil is on a Teknetics G2+ metal detector, a high-frequency detector for collecting coins and relics, and of course — for beach search! It’s better to twist the wire completely around the rod, this is the comrade’s first device, he walks around happy, says that during the season he has already managed to lift a chain with a cross and a couple of rings. Walking along the local beach pays off — here you have sea air, and finds, and an ice cream goer!

What do you think about the coil? Let me remind you that the coil is produced for most metal detectors, with the exception of AKA and Minelab. As for me — on Garrett ACE and various cheap Fisher F11-44 this is a great option!
