Good villagers! (Competitive story of a digger!)
In the fall of 2017, my friend and I got together and went to the police station 350 km from Moscow, we arrived and it had been raining for a week already. Well, since we’ve gathered, we need to look and dig. The place is in a field, 10 km from the nearest settlement, and all this is on a dirt road. As a result, by the evening everyone, up to their ears in mud, decided not to put up tents, but to go closer to the village and settle down there in a small forest, and, as expected, we got stuck. It’s late, where to go through mud for 10 km?! Using the navigator, we looked in the other direction at a small village 3-4 km away, and decided to go there; everyone got wet. We got there, and there was a village of 3 houses, fortunately a farmer lived there and he had equipment. Let's go to him, when we knock, a man with a gun opens the door! He asks who they are, we told him so, they say, our favorite pastime is digging with a metal detector, we are looking for all sorts of antiques. He looked at us and asked what we needed? We asked him to help get us out, to which he said go into the house, warm up and dry out. We met him, his name was Dmitry, his wife Varvara and two daughters – Maria and Ekaterina. He left us to spend the night at his place. He said that the field where we were digging was his, we thought he would start arguing, but no. “Dig as much as you like,” we heard from him. “I’ll show you another place, there are destroyed houses.” His house is large and warm, he accommodated us comfortably. We woke up in the morning and breakfast was already waiting for us. And Dmitry says: “Have breakfast and we’ll go get your car out, and on the way back I’ll show you the place where the houses were.” They pulled out the car and drove to the treasured place. Dmitry said in the evening that we would come to him to spend the night and without any persuasion, we agreed. We started digging the foundation.
We found a lot of interesting things – dishes, icons, coins and my favorite old bottles. In the evening we returned to Dmitry, he had already heated the bathhouse for us.
In the morning he told us that we should go through his garden if it’s not difficult for us. Of course we passed. We lived with him for 5 days and went to different places.
The day has come to leave, to be honest, their family has become like family, the people are very kind, you very rarely meet such people. We left him money, but he stuffed it into our pocket and said that we didn’t owe him anything.
I want to thank Dmitry, Varvara and their daughters Maria and Ekaterina for everything they did for us. We agreed that we would come to them again this year. Sent by comrade Dmitry.
