A typical mistake of novice treasure hunters. Half of the finds are negative

Good mood to you, dear readers of our blog. Today we’ll talk about how to recognize an inexperienced digger from the outside. I have already written about “golfers” on the kopeck several times in various posts, but the topic will always be relevant, so let’s talk again.

Who are “golfers”??? These are the diggers who swing the metal detector like a golf club. From shoulder to shoulder, in an arc, swinging from the hip. From the outside it is very noticeable and as an example I will give two screenshots from a video of one novice blogger. I hope that the author of the video will not be offended, but will take my advice as a guide to action.

A typical mistake of novice treasure hunters. Half of the finds are negative

What do we see? And the fact that in the process of arc wiring, more than half the passage of the coil is a useless (idle) stroke. Accordingly, the digger misses at least half of all finds that could be found in the future. Logical!!!

Why is this happening? First of all, due to the fact that this manner of waving the device is the most convenient for the digger himself. Not all diggers have regular physical activity on the muscles involved in digging. And here, not only do you have to wave the device, but you also have to cover kilometers of arable land. Therefore, after just a couple of hours of digging, the digger’s right arm begins to be taken away, and then wiring with the device begins to be carried out by swinging the whole body.

However, the main reason that the hand begins to get tired quickly when digging is not a lack of dexterity, but the incorrect length of the rod set on the metal detector. I checked this and realized it from personal experience. In the first year of digging, I dug at maximum extension of the boom. And what? I am not a small person, so I decided that the maximum extension of the coil would be just right for me. And, as long as the coil was standard, it did not cause any special problems.

How to correctly wave the device to correctly detect targets is written in each instruction manual for the MD. But who reads these instructions)))

And then I bought a 13-inch Nel Tornado steering wheel. Anyone who has dug with large reels will understand my feelings. ))) And then, after a month of torment, a thought somehow occurred to me. Why not reduce the length of the rod by one division, because I’m digging through arable land, which causes my legs to fall through, and also creates lumps of earth. I did it, and lo and behold!!! My hand stopped hurting, or rather, it started hurting less. Then the logic worked according to the established pattern. Why not reduce it by one more division? As a result, I shortened the barbell to such a length that when walking, it almost touched the toe of my left foot.

So it turned out that the arm at the elbow is almost straight, and most of the load on swinging the device falls on the hand and wrist. And then, holding the MD coil parallel to the ground when wiring is convenient and does not pose any difficulty.

How can this be understood visually? Do the experiment. Bend your arm at the elbow and move it from side to side. What happens? the maximum arc is 30-35 degrees, and at the same time, already at the tenth swing, the triceps begin to hurt. Then lower your hand freely to the bottom and imitate wiring with one hand. What will happen? The arc is almost 180 degrees.

This is some simple geometry with elements of anatomy. I hope that the note was useful to you. So I’ll take a like as a thank you.
