Deteknix Quest detectors – another Chinese fake?

Probably everyone has already heard about the new manufacturer of metal detectors, Deteknix? They have offices all over the world — in the USA, the Netherlands and China. The Deteknix website even states that their devices are developed in California. Who wants to look at this manufacturer — photo link:

But let’s look a little at their crafts. Okay, bags and pinpointers that are 1:1 with Garrett products, but where does the Chinese manufacturer, which in fact is a noname brand, suddenly receive a whole and working model of a metal detector that was developed, according to them, in almost a year and a half? The answer is quite simple and recently one of my blog readers sent this answer. The guy lives in the USA and while testing another Deteknix craft, he thought about the originality of the device and began looking for any information on the Deteknix company. It turned out that the company is registered in the USA, and its owner Mao Quang Deng (it’s difficult to write in Russian, except for the name Mao & #8212; probably still Kuan Deng) and part-time seller of the company, they are simply selling a copied model of a metal detector! Powerful, yes, everything was revealed thanks to a document that he found from the US judicial authorities. As I understand, many of their cases, like ours, are open and everyone can see how this or that court decision ended.

The truth turned out to be simple — metal detectors of the Deteknix Quest series turned out to be a complete copy of the Teknetics T2 metal detector!

The Chinese didn’t even heavily alter the electronic part of the detector, but simply copied all the software by hacking the original Teknetics T2!

The original document on the legal dispute about forgery and illegal copying can be found at this link. It turned out that the security of the Teknetics T2 software could be hacked using acid and small mechanical manipulations. Sleight of hand and no fraud!

I wonder what Mao will do now? The trial, especially in the USA, threatens him with huge losses and big problems, such a well-publicized device will simply remain in the warehouse and its sale will be prohibited in many countries of the world.

So, fellow diggers, it’s up to you to decide — Is it worth buying Chinese detectors and supporting schemers and thieves of other people’s technologies, or is it worth taking the original device and supporting the manufacturer, who is constantly working to improve and develop technologies, which in our case will bring us new discoveries in the future and the search itself will become more comfortable and convenient.
