Nakhodka silver ruble 1765 (kapar’s tale, photo+)

Comrades! Many say that the coins are gone, the fields have been knocked out, there is nothing to look for, and every year there are fewer and fewer finds. This is partly true, finds appear only on beaches and parks, and in other places they decrease every year. But even in the knocked-out fields there are still coins, and I believe in my heart that with each plowing new coins will appear on the field. Of course, there are also fewer and fewer valuable finds, I would even say that in some places there are catastrophically few of them left. But one incident struck me this year, namely, how Catherine the Great’s silver ruble came out on a knocked out re-stamped field — It’s impossible to pass by such a find, I think!

My comrade and I walked through the field and it was empty. It was really empty, because in the first hour of digging I only checked three signals with my Macro Racer 2. They say correctly that with a serious detector you will dig few holes, and so it turned out. On most signals it was clear that under the coil there was something rusty and uninteresting, but I dug through three signals and also didn’t find anything useful — a pair of plugs and one part from an agricultural tool, which was very similar to a RIA plaque from the WWII era. Well, it’s very similar, even when I got the find, I was already rejoicing, saying that I had found a royal plaque, but no, the impression is deceiving!

So an hour and a half of empty wandering around the field passed and I even managed to get hungry, ran to the end of the field and began to taste the wild apples.

But there was one good signal and that was in an hour and a half — copper late-Imperial coin, which is not of particular interest on the mine. I’m telling you that there are no completely blank fields, there will always be a couple of different coins if you try and dig for more signals.

double rainbow copOut of despondency and boredom, I even started photographing nature — Fortunately, a double rainbow appeared in the sky after a little rain. Beauty! You might think that this is a good sign and, in principle, that’s what happened. Since the field was large, and we were digging to the side closer to the old road, since at the other end of the field on the old maps there was a thousand-year-old swamp everywhere and going there was not so interesting, and the cop had been walking for two hours and I was, frankly speaking, empty, I decided everything – go to the other end of the field and see what is there.

Silently I dug out a couple more old Soviet wine stoppers, they ring like coins and you will never distinguish them by the signal from the coin, I came across a good, strong and clear signal. VDI showed 97. I thought — «What kind of wire is this so good that it gives such a VDI, or a large object, I’ll turn 90 degrees to the signal». Checking the signal crosswise always gives a better understanding of the signal, but the VDI remained the same — 97. There can be only one solution — we need to dig and check what’s there!

I dug a hole, the signal is still deep. I think, well, this is clearly something big and nonsense, probably. But he continued to dig and expanded and deepened the hole even more. I checked it with a pinpointer — the signal is still in the hole, not in the dug up ground. I decided to carefully dig into the side and make the hole even deeper, in case there was something valuable there, and with a shovel there was a risk of scratching the find, fortunately I didn’t have a shovel with me. I carefully pulled out the soil with a shovel and suddenly saw the coveted sparkle in my eyes! Correctly shown in films — when you pick up gold or silver that has not seen the light of day for many hundreds of years, it will give such shine at first that there will be no doubt — valuable find. So a large silver ruble from 1765 appeared on the surface.

The preservation is quite good.

And the winning photo on the device!

The depth of the find of the coin was approximately 30 cm, i.e. pretty deep. Maybe the previous comrades went with ICQ and simply missed such a signal, or decided not to dig, citing the depth of the signal and the uncharacteristic VDI indicator ? For me it was quite off-scale.

In any case, a great find, and I wish you the same!

What, too lazy to go to the dig? Look at other finds that comrades have made throughout our vast Russian Empire and beyond, the finds will not dig themselves up. Link here!
