The war between Minelab and XP Detectors – will the French survive? (And Depar Detector+, facts)
Life is not easy for the French from XP Detectors. Minelab, a leading company on the market for decades, is encroaching on a company created by a miner many years ago. Yes, XP Detectors began with the story of one man and a couple of his friends, but that’s another story.
And in our story, XP Detectors and their partner in the USA crossed the path of the Australians and, it seems, not only they, but also their distributors, i.e., are beginning to suffer. the main buyers who feed the manufacturer with money. We wrote about the ongoing case: XP Detectors stole patented technology from Minelab? A big deal is coming!
Now the story has gone even further. The guys from XP Detectors decided to take the simple route and, together with their distributor Depar Detectors from the UAE, simply rebranded the XP Deus metal detector and released it under the name Depar DPR 600. Directly Chinese name:
Funny thing is that its price is only $680 — ; now compare this with the price of a similar set «Divine» Deusa. Link to the price here. As you can see, the prices are similar for the rod+coil+block set, only the Depar version comes with cheap Chinese headphones.
Cunning Chinese move!
But Minelab covered them here too — Depar was left without supplies of Minelab metal detectors! What does this mean? Minelab simply left the distributor without income, completely eliminating him from its partners. Proof of the news.
It seems that if Minelab wins the case against XP Detectors, the latter may be left without XP Deus! And such decisions with Depar simply hint to other distributors that at any moment Minelab will begin to work with their competitors and leave them without supplies of metal detectors.
And does it make sense to create copies of metal detectors, but only under your own brand? As you can see, such «tricks with the ears» may have dire consequences.
