Ellipse coil HF 24×13 cm for XP Deus metal detector (Review, photo+)

Greetings, fellow diggers!

It just so happened that we are slowly studying the XP Deus and the coils for it, so recently I had the opportunity to grab a high-frequency ellipse coil for the Deus from a comrade, who is looking mainly on sea beaches, and to make a small review and opinion on this coil.

Ellipse HF was introduced in 2017 as an excellent addition to the Deus update to version 4. The coil was originally intended as an accessory for searching for gold nuggets, but due to the presence of three frequencies, where the lower frequency is 14 kHz and the highest one is 80 kHz, with a frequency of 26 kHz between them. A good set not only for searching for nuggets, but also for metal-plastics, jewelry and colored items from antiques and on the beach!

The battery is inserted into the bar, and therefore the weight of the coil (444 g) must be understood as including the bar and battery. Without a rod, the reel weighs even less. Charges as standard via regular charging for all coils for XP Deus.

The size of the coil is 24×13 cm, try measuring it on a ruler to see how much it is. The coil is really compact and can be called a real sniper for XP Deus, because it separates nearby objects in the ground just fine, which I tested during my digging with it. I went to a field where in the old days there were more than 39 courtyards, judging by the old map, and the places there had been plowed for a long time, all the metal and interesting finds were mixed up and often very close to each other. The tops in this place have long been knocked out, especially to the side of the road, which means it is more promising to either strike in depth, raising deep signals, or work in the trash close to the road and catch finds there. And this reel is perfect for such a task.

Deus with it turns into an even more compact device. While working with this reel, I realized that it would be perfect for digging too! I tried different settings with it, but settled on my program, which I call “Park”, I just made some changes:

Based on the 3rd program, Deus Fast, we make small changes that may vary depending on your search conditions and location:

Discrimination 4.2 (pro – 3 tones, pro in tones: according to your hearing, I set 202 Hz, 559 Hz, 835 Hz)

Sensitivity 97 (there is no pro setting in the white coil – coil current)

Frequency 26 kHz

Gr. iron 0

Speed 2.5 (pro – noise reduction 1)

Weak signal volume 6 (pro – sound overload 1)

mark 00-00

Now to the ground settings: Tracking, pro – cutting out the ground, we don’t cut anything out, ground sensitivity 5 (depending on your digging spot). Manual 88.

These settings gave me the following – fast operation of the metal detector without much loss in depth (looking at the size of the coil, we can say that depth is not the main task for it, this is a sniper), good sensitivity for small targets and signals, which allows you to pick up small coins and ancient Medieval silver, various metal-plastic materials, we do not hear iron, which does not distract from the search and does not overload our attention with the endless trill of signals. If you have your own settings options, then share them in the comments, our comrades will be happy!

Even with this size it is very quick and convenient to find the center of a target, even a very small one. As often happens, with larger coils a small target begins to “float away” from side to side, so you have to work with a pinpointer and expand the hole. With such a coil this is not the case, with some experience comes an understanding of where the target is and what other objects there are near this target, I even dug out small pieces of a broken bell that lay in a heap within a radius of 30 cm. It was clear what was lying where with the coil very convenient to maneuver when determining the location of small metal objects in the ground.

Actually, in the photo above, the metal-plastic found and the results of working in the trash in 30 minutes. There are a lot of missed signals from other comrades – there are buttons, and parts of a broken bell, and an interesting piece from a pistol casing (possibly a revolver) of foreign manufacture, I haven’t read the stamp yet.

My conclusions on the HF ellipse coil

The coil was originally developed for a wide range of tasks for certain types of searches and, in general, it justifies itself for these tasks, namely: searching for gold nuggets, digging, working in the trash (as an analogue of a sniper), searching on the beach. I would also add that with this size, the coil is perfect for searching in the forest/bush, because it can quickly get into the narrowest places. It is also suitable for attic searches, because depth is not needed there, but a tenacious grip and compact size are the most important thing.

If you are the owner of an XP Deus and you need a coil specifically for these tasks, then you should buy it. It will also be good for getting scales in the field, but for this it is still better to use a round HF 9″, it will give a maximum of a couple of centimeters extra in depth. And for the beach this reel is a must!

Don't worry about it, comrades!
